Curtis Lee has spent thousands of dollars battling a city pension fund over public records. So he’s happy to see the Florida Legislature take up a bill to broaden the open records law and make it easier for people to get information from their government.
“There’s no upside to filing a public records lawsuit unless you’re really public spirited,” Lee said. “And it’s tough because the government always has way more resources than you do.”
Lee estimated that he’s spent over $90,000 in public records lawsuits, and now is fighting to get some of that money back.
