The Florida Supreme Court will consider Marsy’s Law case between the city of Tallahassee and a police union. As the Tallahassee Democrat reports, the court will consider whether an officer can be considered a victim of a crime during the course of his or her duty and is afforded protection under Marsy’s Law.
FAF, along with a coalition of media outlets, intervened in the case, arguing that applying Marsy’s Law to law enforcement would undermine Florida’s Public Records Act.
The City must submit its initial brief to the Supreme Court by Jan. 25.
