Two Palm Beach County lawmakers earned Fs in the Sunshine Scorecard for their votes on public record bills from the 2019 legislative session.
Palm Beach County lawmakers on average did a lackluster job when it came to voting in favor of open government bills during the last legislative session.
But two lawmakers representing portions of the county— state Sens. Bobby Powell, D-West Palm Beach, and Gayle Harrell, R-Stuart — earned F grades.
The Sunshine Scorecard project, in its third year, is compiled by the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors. State lawmakers earned or lost points based on how they voted on a selection of “critical government openness bills.” Extra points were given if the lawmaker sponsored pro-sunshine bills, or made changes to bills that sought to exempt records.
