Palm Bay’s website is the best in the state when it comes to providing access to public information and municipal services online, according to an adjusted report from the Florida First Amendment Foundation.
The foundation conducted a survey earlier this year, ranking the city’s site top in Brevard County and above the state average. City leaders disputed that score (a 63 of 100), saying surveyors missed a second website that lists information such as salaries and city expenditures.
The foundation confirmed Friday it had adjusted Palm Bay’s score, from the previous 63 to 81. That’s the highest score received by any city in Florida.
“We encourage cities and counties who want to improve websites to look at Palm Bay’s,” an update posted on the First Amendment Foundation’s website reads. Other cities are doing just that: Melbourne recently hired the same design company to revamp its municipal site. The foundation recommended Palm Bay improve its website further by making links to secondary sites more prominent.
