It was fitting, even if it was only coincidental, that it occurred during Sunshine Week, an observance celebrating and advocating transparency in government, that the Iowa Supreme Court struck a blow against government secrecy.
The court ruled that, despite their intentional, calculated and even convoluted steps to secretly reorganize Warren County government but stay on the right side of the state’s open meetings law, county supervisors and their administrator nonetheless committed a violation.
