Publishers of arrest booking photos may not accept or extort money or favors to “remove, correct or modify” a mugshot under a proposed bill in the Florida Senate.
Under SB 276, filed by Sen. Darren Soto, D-Kissimmee, the person whose mugshot has been removed or altered by a publisher who has accepted or solicited money to do so, can seek an injunction to permanently remove the mugshot from the website or digital or printed publication. A judge could impose a fine of $1,000 if the image is not removed within two weeks of the order to do so.
