Perhaps there is some legal justification for the Florida Supreme Court to rebuff democracy advocates who blew the whistle on the Florida Legislature‘s illegal activity in drawing political districts. But there is no moral justification for it.
None at all.
In a 4-3 decision, the high court ruled that the state does not have to reimburse legal expenses incurred by the League of Women Voters, Common Cause and the others who spent years — and likely millions of dollars — doggedly insisting that the Florida Legislature comply with the state Constitution when drawing congressional districts.
