State Attorney Bill Eddins announced Thursday that four members of the Citizens Advisory Task Force, an advisory board to the Town of Century City Council, have been charged with noncriminal violations of the Florida Government in the Sunshine Law.
Alfonzie Cottrell, Helen Mincy, Sylvia Godwin and Robert Mitchell have been charged for conducting a public meeting that was not properly advertised, according to a release from Eddins’ office. According to the release, a meeting of the Citizens Advisory Task Force was advertised to begin at 4 p.m. July 26. The meeting was actually at 2 p.m. The maximum penalty for the violation would be a $500 fine.
If the members of the Task Force contest the charges, the matter will go before a county judge to be tried like a regular case. [READ MORE]
