3/30/16 – Orlando Sentinel Editorial
Florida’s lead agency for promoting travel to the Sunshine State insists on doing business in the shadows. It’s ironic, and unfortunate.
As the Sentinel’s Gray Rohrer reported, Visit Florida operates with minimal state oversight and hides crucial details in its contracts from the public, even though it receives substantial public funding along with its private contributions from the tourism industry. This arrangement is an affront to taxpayers, who have a right — spelled out in state law and the Florida Constitution — to know how their hard-earned dollars are being spent.
