In his fourth and final term in the Florida House of Representatives, Ray Rodrigues intends to continue focusing on the issues he campaigned on in his first three terms: government in the sunshine, improving water quality and opposing offshore drilling.
Rodrigues, R-Estero, won 52,904 votes, or about 64.5 percent on Tuesday, compared to 29,104 votes, or about 35.5 percent, for his Democratic challenger David Bogner in House District 76, which includes Estero, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island.
“I’m thrilled that the voters feel I did a good job and want to send me back to Tallahassee to continue representing them,” Rodrigues said.
Rodrigues, 48, a budget manager at Florida Gulf Coast University, was first elected in 2012. The self-described “fiscal and social conservative” served as House majority leader the past two sessions.
