Re: HB 761 Exemption/Voters and Voter Registration
Dear Representative Stevenson:
Thank you for taking the time to meet with us this week, Representative Stevenson. Through our productive conversation, we were able to find ways in which HB 761 can be amended to better accomplish its purpose without unnecessarily restricting the public’s right of access. We understand your concerns regarding the necessity of protecting the information of preregistered voter registration applicants who are minors. As we discussed at our meeting, if the language of HB 761 is amended to mirror the language of SB 532 then we will have no problem changing our position on HB 761 from “oppose” to “neutral.”
Once again, we thank you for taking the time to meet and listen to our concerns. We look forward to working with you on future issues involving Florida’s Sunshine and Public Records laws. In the mean time, should you need our assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
